I’ve Excelled Myself

Well after my carefully organised and feeling very smug with myself day.  The normal mayhem has returned with avengence.  Today I actually managed to burn PASTA!  Yep you read correctly – pasta.  I am hanging my head in shame.

I was making our lasagne for dinner and have everything ready to go into the dish, when I realised I had bought the wrong lasagne sheets.  I normally buy the no pre cook ones, not this time.  Anyway, I got my water boiling and threw in the sheets.  That’s when it all went horribly wrong.

My daughter needed changing, that of course meant chasing her round the house first.  Then the baby started to howl and she needed cuddling.  Then the phone rang, with a marketing call from someone trying to sell me life insurance – was this an omen!

Anyway, I forgot I still had the pan turned up full boiling away.  The strange sizzling sound from the kitchen suddenly brought reality crashing back.  I ran to the kitchen but I was way too late.  The water had boiled dry the pasta sheets were black and welded onto my saucepan!  Of course I had none left to rectify things, so tonight’s dinner has turned into spaghetti bolognese instead.

Deep breaths all round – worse things happen at sea 😦
